So the run tonight did NOT happen. It’s kind of hard to run 4 miles when you are filled with seafood, frozen yogurt, and CHAMPAGNE!
I cannot believe we are engaged. I cannot believe my sister and James bought the ring over a month ago when I was in Indianapolis for a wedding (thanks, Susan, you’re the best!). I cannot believe James called my dad to ask his permission on Sunday when I was driving home from Indiana.
I can’t believe it!
So a few weeks ago, James mentioned that he wanted to go to Mitchell’s Fish Market for dinner. I thought nothing of this because we random decide to go to dinner, so I thought this was one of those nights. Apparently James had the ring at work all day today AND in his suit jacket pocket the whole night — including when we tried to take a pic together.
When he got home from work, he had these flowers for me.
Because we hadn’t gone on a “date” in a long long time, I thought he was just being cute and didn’t think anything of them. I put them in water and we headed out to dinner.
Mitchell’s was amazing:
I was stuffed when we left, but according to my dad’s theory, there is always room for ice cream. So I asked if we could stop by Berry Me for some frozen yogurt. I got a wonderful combo of cake batter and vanilla fro yo with sprinkles, peanut butter cups, and oreos.
James asked if I wanted to take the fro yo home and sit on the balcony with Milo. Of course I wanted to go home and see Milo. I grabbed a blanket and we headed out to the balcony.
The night was perfect and Milo was sitting outside with us when I said “I think this is my favorite night of 2012.” You’re welcome, James, for giving you such an amazing transition. James then said “I think I know what could make the night even better” and put a box on the table in front of me.
I immediately started crying. He got down on one knee and proposed — I didn’t even say yes right away! I was crying and hugging him before I realized I hadn’t said yes.
Of course I said yes. He is my best friend, soul mate, and the father of my dog
I can’t live without him and now I never have to!
I was so surprised, there was not one ounce of my being that knew this was coming tonight!
We immediately ran inside, popped the champagne my parents gave us (for the half marathon, but I think this called for an early celebration), and called everyone we knew.
My favorite part is that he said he wanted to come home to propose so Milo could be a part of it…do we love that guy or what?
I am so unbelievably blessed to be engaged to such an amazing man!
Just another Tuesday night dinner, huh? :)
