Welcome to my blog! My name is Laurie, and I am a 26-year-old professional living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After reading several healthy living blogs, I wanted to start my own blog to get in on the action and share recipes, workouts, and stories. What really got the ball rolling, however, was the half marathon. I ran my first half marathon on May 12, 2012 and had asked several bloggers (as well as non-bloggers) for tips and advice on the half during training. I figured it would be better for me to have a place for all my questions and experiences so that other people could have access to the same helpful advice.
Along with training and other workouts, I am excited to share stories about all of my favorite things. Whether is it cooking, reading, watching television, or playing with my dog, I want to share these fun things with my friends—especially since I am far away from most of them.
The cast of characters that you will need to know are the following:
James – The Fiancé
Although he is officially (as of April 24, 2012) known as my fiancé, James is actually my best friend. It was love at first mutual agreement to watch Sportcenter. We’ve been dating for three and a half years, after meeting within the first few weeks of law school. We survived school, so we can survive anything. James trained for and ran the half with me, and thank God for that! He was definitely my motivator and supporter through training, as well as in life.
Milo – The Love of my Life
Yes, I think that my dog is my child, and his dad and I definitely spoil him rotten. Milo is a Ridgeback mix we rescued in August 2011, and he is now two years old. Our favorite Milo story is the story of why we picked him. When we were getting ready to leave the foster’s home where we were meeting Milo, James yelled “Bye Milo.” Milo turned around, sprinted over to us, and gave us “hugs” and kisses goodbye. The next week, we brought our little boy home and our lives have not been the same since.
Susan – The Sister
I always say Susan is my built in best friend. We are two years apart, but we have been bffs since I was about a year old (before that, she wasn’t too fond of me). Hopefully Susan will be showing up on the blog a lot, because that means I get to hang out with her. Also, Susan just got married, so if you see her, tell her congrats 
Mom and Dad – Self-explanatory
My parents are amazing. Not sure why God decided I deserved to have the best parents on earth, but I’m not complaining. My parents, Susan, and I are closer than any family I know. Whether it’s watching Jeopardy, traveling, or just hanging out, the four of us always have the best time together. They will be showing up a lot too as I make trips home and they come to visit me and just because they are awesome.
