How We Found Our Home

Hi everyone and thank you SOOO much for all the congrats!  We are beyond excited to move in this weekend and be in our first house!

I’m sure I will fill you in a lot throughout the next month or so, but here are a few quick details about how we found and got the house.

Even though we weren’t planning on getting a house until the fall or spring AFTER the wedding (in other words, a year or year and a half from now), I was still checking real estate websites just to see what was out there.  One day, I saw this house:

Our house!

I absolutely loved it, and there happened to be an open house the weekend my parents were in town — this weekend.  My parents planned on leaving early that Sunday morning to go home, but because they are the best ever, they stuck around to accompany me to the open house since James had to work.

We went to the open house and realized the house was perfect!

We came back to the apartment and told James we needed to buy this house.  After a serious discussion about finances and realizing we could get a house earlier than we thought, we went back on Tuesday so James could see it.  He fell in love.

We looked at a few other houses in the area to make sure we were making an informed decision, but no other house compared.  So we put in an offer on this Friday night, and it was accepted on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend!

The past month and a half have been inspections, appraisals, dealing with mortgage things, and getting fence details in order so we can immediately put up a fence for Milo.  But now, it’s all over and it’s our house!

Can’t wait to see Milo run around his brand new yard!  Especially since we bought this house for him :)

So excited for this fella to have his own yard

We could not be more excited, and it was the perfect anniversary present :)

So Wednesday night, we celebrated with champagne (classy in the red solo cups, huh?) and our favorite Thai food.

The perfect ending to the day that we got our dream house!

I’ll fill you in more on the move, but that’s it for this morning.  Have a wonderful Friday!
