May Goals

TGIT!

That’s not a thing, but it should be.

So, I finally figured out what my goals are for May.  Each month I like to come up with five goals to concentrate on.  If I focus on my goals on a smaller scale (as opposed to throughout the year), I’m more likely to do them.  I’ve been doing this since January, and for the most part, I’d say it’s been successful.

Here are May’s five goals:

– Drink more water –> this is especially important this month before the half.  I’m usually really good about drinking a ton of water, but I’ve been substituting water for coffee, diet pepsi/coke, and other non-water beverages, which brings me to number 2…

– Drink less empty calories –> we have a Starbucks in our building and a deli across the street that has huge diet cokes.  It’s so easy to grab something other than water, especially around 2 p.m. when I hit the wall.  However, not only are these empty calories, it is a waste of money, so I’m limiting an outside drink to only once a week.

Less of these

– Do more yoga –> After the half, I want to do some low intensity exercise for awhile, and I need to continue to stretch.  I have 4 yoga DVDs (!) so I really need to start using them

Some of the DVDs

– Eat more fruit –> I’m normally really good at this, but lately, I haven’t been eating as much fruit as I would like.  With summer coming up, it shouldn’t be too hard, but it’s still a goal

More sides like this (the fruit, not the cookie)

Take the stairs more –> I spend way too much time in an elevator when I could easily take the stairs.  I need to focus on that this month.

I encourage you to pick your five goals for the month — it’s really easy to focus on five things for one month and make things into habits.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I love your goals! I am trying to watch my spending on drinks too. I have been brewing my own iced tea and bring a sparkling soda water from home to mix up the usual water routine sometimes. $4 may sound like a lot at the grocery for 12 cans of sparkling water, but it is a heck of a lot cheaper than spending $1.50+ everyday on one drink!

I totally agree! I always think I shouldn’t buy stuff at the store because it seems like a lot, but when you add up the little purchases, it is so worth it! I need to start brewing my own ice tea, that’s going to be my non-water drink of choice this summer :)

I am horrible at drinking water. I just don’t like it :) I’m really trying to make an effort to drink more. I know it’s good for me but I find it so hard. I do like hot water with lime though.

    • Laurie says:

You should try orange slices or cucumbers in your water to see if you like it! I never thought about that (only lemon and lime), but when I was on vacation, they put oranges and cucumbers in our water and it was a nice change!

  3. These are awesome goals!! I always need to consciously think about the amount of water I’m drinking. I hate having to pee a lot but I know how good it is for me haha.

Haha I KNOW! Today was terrible running back on forth to the bathroom…TMI? :) I’m hoping that with the temps heating up, it will be much easier to drink water all day
