Will You Be My Maid of Honor?

Hey everyone, happy Saturday!  I hope you have had a fun day so far!

My day has actually been quite eventful and very fun!

First, this morning, my sister, mom, and I went to our local hair salon (where we got our hair cut every time  from the time we were little until we moved away) for pedicures!  I needed one so bad after destroying my feet the last few months, and Susan wanted one for the wedding.  So we decided to go today so it wouldn’t be as stressful, and we wouldn’t have to add one more thing to the list for the wedding weekend.

Looking at potential wedding hairstyles while we waited

Only my sister and I got pedicures, but my mom was up in the room with us, and we had a great time chatting with the ladies at the salon.

It felt great to get a little pampering.

After the pedicures, we picked up my dad and we all went out for brunch.

All of our food

I got a skillet with potatoes, sausage, green peppers, onions, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, gravy, and a biscuit on the side.  So good!!

Hearty breakfast

After brunch, my mom, dad, and I put a plan into action.  Let me give you some background.

My family loves ice cream cakes.  No matter the occasion (and even if there is no occasion), we always get an ice cream cake.  It definitely one of the things I always think of when I think of my family because we love our ice cream cake.

I already asked four lovely ladies to be my bridesmaids, but I hadn’t asked my maid of honor yet.  Of course, it was going to be my sister, but I still wanted to ask her.  I was going to get her flowers as well, but she will have so many flowers in the upcoming weeks that I wanted to do something different.

So I decided to write it on an ice cream cake.  I ordered it Thursday, and we needed to figure out a way to get it without her getting suspicious.  My mom and dad were great making her think they wanted it and that it had nothing to do with us.  So my dad and I went in and bought it, and I sat with it in the front seat during the drive home so she couldn’t see it.

Once we got home, I gave it to her to put in the freezer.  Instead, she saw what was written on it:

Will you be my maid of honor?

Of course she said yes, and now I have my maid of honor!  I wanted to do something creative AND we got ice cream out of it, so it was a win win situation.

After that excitement, I spent the remainder of the afternoon laying outside while my mom worked in the yard so that we could chat and I could work on a little tan for the wedding.

I also had this little treat when I got back in the house:

Nothing better than a popsicle in the summer (which is what it feel like here — 87 degrees!), and grape is by far the best flavor.

Now I need to start getting ready for the big night!  Happy Bachelorette Party to Susan!

Hope everyone has a great Saturday night!

  1. What a cute way to ask your sister! My family loveesss ice cream cake too (it’s a birthday tradition as well!) and I always look forward to it each and every year. One year I got an entire sheet cake, shared it with about 20 friends, then had half of it allll to myself for the next few months :D haha

    Have a great weekend!

I’m so jealous you had one for so long! I was craving ice cream cake hardcore as soon as I got back to Milwaukee, I would have used a sheet to myself :)
